Plastic pollution is choking our oceans—devastating marine and human health.

Over 14 million metric tons of plastic enter our oceans annually, from manufacturing plants, from packaging, and from single use plastic items like straws, shopping bags, and so many other daily, household items. Once in the ocean, this trash harms sea life and breaks down into her more harmful microplastics that infiltrate every level of the food chain. The economic toll is staggering: plastic pollution causes over $2.5 trillion in damages to essential marine environments every year.

The health toll may be larger! No one is immune.

The odds are that anyone - everyone - reading this has consumed a fish that had eaten plastic, or has had microplastics in their drinking water.

Alarmingly, plastic particles have been found in our bodies, our bloodstream, our critical organs, and even our brains. Early research has found these plastics complicate post-surgical recovery leading to early mortality, and contribute to global reduction in fertility rates.

Introducing the Poseidon Plastic Tracking System

We have launched a groundbreaking global initiative to map plastic contamination in oceans and waterways and identify the health risks caused by the exposure - now and into the future. The Poseidon Plastic Tracking System leverages satellite data and AI to identify the communities most at-risk from plastic pollution and guide efforts to protect both our environment and our health.

Poseidon will:

  • Identify the location and accumulation of plastics in oceans and waterways.
  • Track the movement of plastics from their source to where they cause harm.
  • Assess the current and future impacts of plastic contamination on human and environmental health.

Monitoring this accumulation over time is crucial for developing policies and implementing measures that address the immediate and long-term effects of plastic contamination on our planet and all its inhabitants.

Your Support Is Crucial

Your donation enables Poseidon to provide critical data and insights on plastic pollution and its health risks to conservation organizations, governments, and the public health sector worldwide. By supporting Poseidon, you empower decision-makers and advocates to take targeted action where it's needed most.

Your contribution helps protect our Oceans and Saves Lives.

Donate Now to transform Poseidon into a globally accessible resource in the fight against oceanic plastic pollution. We are more than halfway to our goal, and every contribution is vital.

If you prefer to donate by check, please make it payable to HSR.health and mail it to 15200 Shady Grove Road, STE 305, Rockville, MD 20850.

Poseidon's Beginnings

With initial pilot funding of just $18,000 from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), we've successfully demonstrated Poseidon's capabilities in the Foxe Basin of the Canadian Arctic, where indigenous communities are particularly vulnerable due to their reliance on marine life for sustenance.

Scaling Poseidon From the Arctic to the Globe

Poseidon is designed to scale. With your support, we aim to expand its reach globally—beginning with the Arctic, soon extending across the Atlantic, and ultimately covering the world.

But to achieve this, we do need the support of businesses, private philanthropists and others just like you. We seek to raise $475,000 to ensure Poseidon's insights into the health risks from plastic contamination is available to public health, governments, environmental organizations, concerned industry and individuals globally.

The Time is Now

Everyday we don't take Poseidon global - more and more plastics enter the ocean, more marine life and environments suffer, more fish are contaminated, and sold into the food supply, continually exacerbating the problem.

We don’t even know the depth and breadth of the problem and every day, tons of plastic enter our oceans and bodies of water. The longer we wait, the bigger this unknown problem becomes. The time is now to save our planet and save our lives.
